OPTIBENT-987 produces a thixotropic flflow behavior. It improves the anti-sagging properties in pre-mix mortars  and their ease of processing without impairing the cement hydration. In aqueous paste-like binder systems,  OPTIBENT-987 increases the storage stability and reduces the settling tendency during application which enables  thick layers. OPTIBENT-987 also displays consistent rheological properties even at different temperature conditions.  

Recommended Use 

OPTIBENT-987 is suitable for a variety of aqueous construction systems in the pH neutral to alkaline  range. 

Recommended Levels 

0.1-2.0% additive (as supplied) based upon the total formulation, depending on the properties of the  formulation to be achieved. The above recommended levels can be used for orientation. Optimal levels are determined through a  series of laboratory tests. 

Incorporation and Processing Instructions 

OPTIBENT-987 is hydrophilic and can be added as supplied to the dry mix mortar formulation. It is also possible to incorporate the additive as a dispersion (5-7 % solids content) and is especially  recommended for paste-like systems. OPTIBENT-987 should be added to water slowly whilst stirring and  pre-dispersed at high shear forces for at least 20 minutes. All other system components can then be  added.
